In August, Mascoma Bank sponsored Burlington, Vermont’s Intervale Center and their annual fundraiser, which celebrates Vermont’s vibrant food system and our community of talented farmers, chefs, and supporters. In place of their traditional Midsummer Feast, the Intervale Center put on a one-of-a-kind, drive-through experience that supported both the Intervale Center’s mission and local restaurants while still ensuring the safety of the community.
As food insecurity spread in Vermont due to the pandemic, the Intervale Center grew, gleaned, harvested, and donated as much fresh food as possible by adding the People’s Farm and expanding distribution through free pop-up markets throughout the year. They also expanded home delivery of local food through the Intervale Food Hub, growing this service rapidly in the early days of the pandemic to help families in the Burlington area access healthy, local food in the safest way possible. Mascoma Bank is proud to support the Intervale Center for their work sustaining farms, land, and people, as they build the good food movement in Vermont and beyond.
